Internal Competitions

League Competition

  1. The league consists of six, monthly competitions.
  2. Subjects for the league competitions are alternatively "Open" and "Named".  The committee determines the three named subjects.  Subjects from the previous three years are ineligible.
  3. Each competition is judged in three separate categories:
    • Monochrome Prints.  (Single colour & white)
    • Colour Prints.
    • Colour Slides.
  4. All entries will be assessed by the appointed judge and given a constructive criticism on the evening of the competition.
  5. Each entry must bear the competitor's ID number but not the competitor's name.
  6. Entries are limited to a maximum of three in each category.
  7. Prints must be mounted on a display board with an ID number and title on the reverse.  Prints must not be smaller than 6" x 4".  The largest print including the mount must not exceed 20" x 16".
  8. Slides must be spotted at the bottom left hand corner with the ID number printed on the bottom edge.  Titles should be printed on the top edge.
  9. All entries should be submitted in suitable containers, slides in boxes (from processors), prints in envelopes, and bear the competitors ID numbers.
  10. Entries must be given to the Competition Secretary by the end of the club meeting on the Monday preceding the competition, unless other wise stated.
  11. No entry is eligible if it has been submitted previously in any club competition, though a colour slide and a colour or mono print derived from that slide may be regarded as legitimate separate entry.  (League entries are however eligible for entry into the annual competition of the current session.)

Annual Competition

  1. The annual competition is held just prior to the Annual General Meeting.
  2. It is an "Open" competition.
  3. The competition has three categories:
    • Monochrome Print.
    • Colour Print.
    • Colour Slide.
  4. All entries will be assessed by the appointed judge and given a constructive criticism on the evening of the competition.  There must be an outright winner in each category.
  5. Above rules 5 to 10 apply.
  6. Members may submit new entries or they may submit entries that have been in the League competition of the current session only.  A colour slide and a colour or mono print derived from that slide may be regarded as legitimate separate entries.

External Competitions

Inter-Fife Club Competitions

  1. Each club may submit not more than 8 monochrome prints, 8 colour prints and 10 colour slides.
  2. No individual member may submit more than 2 monochrome prints, 2 colour prints and 2 colour slides.
  3. While there is no restriction on subject matter, the aim of the competition is to present the best in pictorial photography by club members.  Prints and slides must not be more than two years old.
  4. A panel of judges, who must be SPF approved and appointed by the organising club, will do the judging.
  5. Prints may be of any size, suitably mounted on boards (no glass or metal fasteners), not exceeding 20" x 16".  The title and your first competition ID number must be clearly printed on the reverse.
  6. lides must be 2" x 2", mounted in glass, and spotted for projection.  Titles should be printed along the top edge and your first competition ID number should be on the bottom edge.

Inter-Club Competitions (3-Way & 2-Way)

  1. Each club may submit not more than 15 colour slides.
  2. No individual member may submit more than 3 colour slides.
  3. Slides must be 2" x 2", preferably mounted in glass, and spotted at the bottom left hand corner.  Titles should be printed on the top edge and your first competition ID number should be on the bottom edge.
