WELFARE
Janet Tonkinson (01782 641190) is in charge of Havana and Oriental Lilac Cat Club Welfare. Janet is the first point of contact to help:
- cats that have strayed or become lost;
- cats in need of care;
- cats that need re-homing.
The Club's policy is to ensure that the welfare and stability of all kittens and cats sold by breeders will always be a primary consideration for the Club.
There are many reasons why cats need help or re-homing, such as the demise of the owner or changes in circumstances. The Club needs to know that all the cats have stability, it is important to register your kitten with the GCCF.
If you are in a position to give your cat some freedom it is recommended that its vaccinations against enteritis, cat 'flu and FeL are annually kept up to date. A further precaution is to have the cat micro chipped - a measure that is also required under the new UK quarantine laws should you wish to take it to the continent. If your cat strays you are also more likely to find it if it can be identified. Don't rely on cat collars, many of these are deadly, if a cat catches it on a branch - sometimes choking can occur. The Cats Protection or Feline Advisory Bureau have useful information and CP sells a most reasonably priced safe collar.
All concerns and problems will be dealt with sympathetically by Janet or the Club.
