Billy |
9th April 1999 - 26th April 2004 |
| Billy came with Janice at just the right time. Sparky had been put to sleep in January and Sooty was terminally ill and starting to loose weight quite quickly. However he didn't let the new arrivals upset him and quite soon was happily sleeping with them. I have lots of photos of him (some with Janice as well), so here are some of them! |

Billy being mad! |
| Billy had the most delightful purrsonality with both people and cats. He was confidant and outgoing, and loved making friends with people who passed the house. He had a large fan club including those people, folks at the vets and a select other band who have met him on exhibition at various cat shows. He was also very keen on riding my shoulders, and I still have the scars to prove it! I got used to walking around the house going about my business with him up there. It wasn't not to painful if I had a fleece on, but in warm weather he didn't get a very warm welcome. He was also keen on drinking out of dripping taps, and proved himself to be more than adequate hunter on our Scottish holidays - one of my last memories of him alive was him coming back to the house with a dead ring-necked dove. As the photo above shows he didn't mind paddling. He produced the most awful mess in the house as he ran back in straight into the litter tray, and then trod it all round the house! Yuck! |
Asians are a fairly new breed of cat. Their origin is in an accidental cross between a Chincilla and a Burmese. The resulting kittens were delightful and it was decided to work towards creating a new breed with the type and coat texture of a Burmese, but in a rainbox of colours - the only unacceptable colours are bicolours (with white), and cats with Burmese colours can be used in a breeding program (as can Burmese) but not shown. Since the Chincilla is a long-hair cat the ability to produce long-haired offspring was also present. These are acceptable in all the Asian colours plus Burmese colours, and have are identical in shape but with a long coat. However the coat is not like that of a Persian - it is less dense and easier to look after. |
| Here is his colour-coded pedigree - the background colour for each cat reflects it's breed, Asian, Tiffanie, Burmese or Chincilla. This pedigree is unusual in that it goes back to a generation in which every cat is a Burmese or Chincilla. Due to the number of generations it is rather wide and may well produce scroll bars on your screen, for which I apologise. However I can see no way of making it narrower. |
