Welcome to Cat-Tales

Janice

10th April 1999 - 22nd June 2001

Janice came from Naomi with Billy, after Sparky had been put to sleep and before Sooty was.  She was named after Janice Joplin and lived up to it - previously I have used the heading 'Bad, Armed and Dangerous' to describer her! She proved to be a bit of a bully with the other cats but was wonderfully affectionate with me.

When I got her I hoped to show her, but she was not keen on shows and also had asn incorrect coat pattern, so after a few shows she was retired.  I also exhibited her once (with Billy) where they made a great and favourable impression - Billy more than Janice though!  The photo above and to the left was taken on that occasion.

Janice was a Brown Smoke Asian - another way of putting this is that she was a Brown Burmese with smoke, which is an effect of the silver gene in which the bottom 1/3 to 1/2 of each hair is brilliant white.  This could be seen even on the short fur on her toes, but the amount of silver was variable and often too much leading to a patchy kind of appearance.  Here is her pedigree.
