Welcome to Cat-Tales

Rufus - born Spring 1997

Rufus in a cat nest Rufus is a WRPCC rescue.  I saw him on the rehome row at the 1999 show, and promptly fell in love.  The papers were signed, and I went home to get a (large) cat basket.  Rufus has been to a couple of shows and took the 'Best Rescue' trophy at the 2000 South Ribble Pet Cat Club Show.

However he is still nervous - it is possible he was maltreated at his previous home.  Since I got him he has gained weight (mostly muscle) and his coat is now thick and soft.  I hope that with time he will become more relaxed about life and maybe be shown again.  I think that of all my cats he's the best looking one.  This photo doesn't do him justice.  I will take some more, and hopefully get a better image.

When I first took him home he demanded to be out most of the time, but now he stays in much more (maybe the recent wet nights have been something to do with it!) and seems much more settled.  However he still gives a funny little meow which seems to mean 'I don't like this' if I pick him up.

He won't eat with the others so I give him a small helping of cat food in a bowl on the kitchen table.  He also eats biscuits (which are always available) when they are elsewhere.  These days he also loves sitting on my lap, but he jumps off as soon as I move.  Also, he finally seems to be getting past waking me at 3am to be let out!
